Golf Sidekick, a South African golf creator based in Thailand, is one of the most unique and influential voices in the YouTube golf space. While he is not deciding which bucket-hat to wear or sunscreening his nose, Golf Sidekick is focusing on helping everyday golfers (Playas) to lower their scores through course management and mental game.
Matt’s mid-life crisis hit early at age twelve when he and a friend borrowed a lawnmower for a 3km joyride to a South African par-3 course. He quickly discovered that aggressively and emotionally negotiating with grass was a level of instability that spoke to him. After 25 years in the trenches, he launched a website to dump his knowledge, accidentally building a massive YouTube following by filming on-course guides. By ditching the "down-the-nose" lectures of pros to talk to the bros like a bro, not a pro, he filled a massive gap in the game—all while insisting he had no idea what he was doing, and still doesn't.
